
Flávio was Born in Porto Alegre, where he studied Journalism and Law, at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. There he also started his professional career, working for "Diário de Notícias" in Porto Alegre, and later in the advertising and productions sectors of "A Hora" (newspaper), as well as for Piratini TV.
During 1963 Faveco (as he is largely known by heart) founded the advertising agency named "Sociedade Gaúcha de Promoções e Publicidade". Thereafter he established the Denison Propaganda's branch in Porto Alegre, later becoming its Director for the South Area, including Curitiba's office. Faveco was elected Chief Executive Officer of Standard in 1970 and managed TV Record, a leading TV network. Soon after Ogilvy & Mather's acquisition in 1972, Flávio returned to advertising and was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the newly formed Standard Ogilvy & Mather, which under his leadership became the largest ad agency in the country. He was elected as a member of the Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide Board, and in 1983 was named its President for the Latin Amercia and Caribbean Region, with head offices in New York.
During the course of 1985, Flávio was elected Brazil's Advertising Man of the Year.
In 1998 he left Ogilvy to join Propeg, as President and shareholder. Propeg is a leading 100% brazilian owned advertising, new media and related communications services agency, which he left in May of this year to set up his own marketing and communications consultancy, FAR Comunicação.
Flávio is one of the most prestigious professionals in the Brazilian advertising business and one of the most respected in the international level. Currently, he holds the following honorific positions:
President of the Brazilian Association of Advertising Agencies;
President of the Southern Cone Federation of Advertising Agencies Associations;
President of Cultural Foundation of the Brazilian Army;
Vice-President of the São Paulo Commercial Association;
Counselor of ANUBRA - a recently created Brazilian branch of the United Nations;
Member of the Business Affairs Committee of the American Chamber;
He was also one of the founders of YPO (Young Presidents Organization), Instituto Liberal and CEDES (Centro de Estudos para o Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social do Brasil)
